THE V-DAY PLAN FOR NON-BINARIES

Spread the love

Valentine’s day is the day of love, celebrated across the globe! However, I couldn’t help but notice how the sublime message of couples being only ‘male and female’ is being propagated everywhere. Whether it is a social media post, print advertisement, TV commercial, or a simple WhatsApp forward – somehow we have made valentine’s day a synonym to the day that is only for cisgender couples!

Honestly, it is disturbing to see how a huge community has been cut off and alienated. If this is the day of love, why is love being limited to these two genders?

This day can be a little tricky for non-binary couples. After all, where would they find inclusivity in celebration from?

So we decided to come up with inclusive gifting options (both tangible and intangible) that can make this V-Day an equal celebration for all of us!

Here are 5 ideas on how to celebrate your Valentine’s day

  1. Beauty and spa: If you both are into beauty and spa then this is for you. Take an appointment and indulge in a ravishing massage, beauty procedures, and relaxing spa on this Valentine. This will not only help you spend the time with your loved one but also let you indulge in some self-love.
  1. A house plate: If you have recently moved in with your partner a house plate that celebrates love could be a good idea. Phrases like – “LoveWins” or “NothingButLove” are not just cute but thought-provoking.
  1. Coming out: When you are in love, you wish to tell this to the whole world! What can be crazier than coming out in public with your partner on this day? This is brave, without a doubt but if you do it – it is a win-win for sure.
  1. Movie date: Movie dates are fun! Whether you decide to go out and watch a movie or stay in and binge on Netflix – the choice is yours. But, the experience of watching a movie with your partner is beautiful beyond measures. Do that if you have nothing else planned.
  1. The Pride keepsake: Whether it is a cute mug, pillow, hate, or anything else, something with Pride colors on it could be an amazing gift! Go ahead and search the shops online – we are sure you will find something of that sort! If not, customize one.

The presence of nipples on the bodies of people with ovaries biologically serves two functions: to deliver milk out of the ducts within the breast to babies, But for all genders nipples serve as erogenous zones. Here are certain facts about the nipple which are not so commonly known.

The word “mammary” comes from “mamma,” the Greek and Latin word for the breast, which derives from the cry “mama” uttered by infants and young children, sometimes meaning “I want to feed at the breast.”

The small darkened (pigmented) area around the nipple is called the areola. The word “areola” is the diminutive of the Latin “area” meaning a small space.

1. THE NIPPLE HAS SWEAT GLANDS

The nipple is just one part of the female anatomy that’s important in breastfeeding; There are sweat glands on the aereola called Montgomery glands that only produce to lubricate the nipple and scent. William Fetherstone Montgomery, an Irish obstetrician, was the first to describe them in 1837 and hence they are named after him as Glands of Montgomery.

2. SOME PEOPLE HAVE EXTRA NIPPLES

Polymastia is a congenital condition where one or more breasts have been derived from a nipple located out of the usual location. For instance, in India, a man was found with seven nipples on his body. This should not cause concern or shame. It is normal.

3. EACH NIPPLES IS UNIQUE

Nipples come in different colors. Every Nipple varies from the other just like the areolae. Nipples can grow and darken during pregnancy due to the hormonal changes that take place in the body.

4. NIPPLES CAN BE IN OR OUT

Nipples can be inverted or pointed outwards. For most women, however, an inverted nipple causes neither pain nor any difficulty while breastfeeding a child so this should not be a matter or concern.

5. WOMEN CAN HAVE NIPPLE HAIR TOO

The human body is covered with hair and it is natural for women to have hair around their nipples. Black, wiry hair growing around the areolas is common and normal part of bodily changes. If it bothers you, check with a doctor but the hair does not hinder in breastfeeding with proper technique or using nipple shields.

6. NIPPLE CAN GET ERECT

The nipple can get erect when exposed to a cold or a drop in temperature in the environment but also during sexual activity, stimulation or while breastfeeding.
